Brothers Joseph Quinlan and James Mungovan (at right) follow the cross (carried by fellow novice James Grant) to the Mass of Profession. Brother James (at right) stands at the baptismal font before the liturgy. In baptism we die and rise with Christ, and by religious profession we deepen our life in Jesus Christ.

Friars celebrated the addition of two new brothers. As they listened to the Word of God and witnessed the profession of evangelical vows, they were led to renew their own vows as Capuchin Franciscan friars. Their prayer was completed in the celebration of the Eucharist, receiving the Body and Blood of Christ.

Brother James (left above) and Brother Joseph (right) profess the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience to the Minister Provincial, Father John Pavlik. James and Joseph professed vows for three years. Now they begin a period of testing and discernment to understand if God is calling them to a life as Capuchin-Franciscan friars.

Brothers Joseph and James were just two among seven novices from five Capuchin Provinces. Standing, from left to right, Thomas McFadden (Australia), German Quinones (Puerto Rico), Andrew Nowak (New York), Joseph Quinlan, and Friar David Nestler, the Novice Master.
